Phoenix Fashion Week 2017 Emerging Designers at Shop Garment District
What you need to know.
Phoenix Fashion Week 2017 emerging designers
This annual event featuring Phoenix Fashion Week 2017 emerging designers at Shop Garment District is my favorite show from the year. The Shop Garment District features a Style Villa with each of the emerging designers so you can meet them and talk with them one on one. The runway show offers a preview of each emerging designers’ designs that will be featured at October’s final show for fashion week. I attended to see a returning favorite – ACONAV – Phoenix based Native American designer plus find some new favorites. This year’s emerging designer lineup includes designers from Arizona to the Philippines including two designers from Tucson and two accessory designers from Phoenix.
Arizona Emerging Designers
Loren Aragon is back as an emerging designer in this year’s group and he won the best runway show and best custom design. ACONAV offered previous and new designs available for purchase and a runway show featuring new designs. Loren Aragon has integrated his jewelry into his clothing designs and the dress I saw was stunning! (see photo below) Also, the deep purple dresses featured in the show are inspired by Arizona skies before a storm, my favorite is below. ACONAV’s designs are made to order and you can email Loren here: email@example.com and visit the website here.
Multi Colored Animal (MCA)
Multi Colored Animal is a Scottsdale based accessory designer who creates one of a kind headbands from t-shirts. Headbands are available in 1 1/2 inch and 2 inch widths. They can also create custom headbands with your logo/graphics. Check out a sample from the collection, below.
Theo Doro features a fantastic collection of whimsical designs for women. The designer is based in Tucson, AZ. I found her designs vintage inspired but modern and wearable for today’s woman. I love her use of fascinators and hats for her looks. My favorite from her collection is below.
Qmulative is a menswear designer based in Tucson, AZ. The designer features streetwear and Arizona pocket tees which were very clever and unique update to a standard t-shirt (see photo below). Sizes S – XL plus a variety of pocket designs are available on the website for purchase.
Outside of Arizona
Nouvelle Palm Beach
Nouvelle features silk separates that are ready to wear. This is meant to be silk that can be washed (if needed) instead of dry cleaned but as you know from my previous blogs, fabrics like silk don’t ever really need to be washed because they are self cleaning. The fabric used for her clothes was soft, luxurious and the prices for her pieces were very accessible. I want to live in some of these clothes. Silk is an amazing breathable fabric perfect for hot climates!
Enji Studio Jewelry
Enji Studio Jewelry is woman-owned business based in San Diego and the jewelry is handmade. The pieces are made from “recycled gold and silver, ethically sourced and fairmined stones, chains and findings that are made in the USA and Italy.” Enji is also a member of the Ethical Metalsmiths and their goal is to be among the first to bring transparency and sustainability to the luxury jewelry market. I am so happy to learn of this jewelry design the sustainable, ethical practices. It is very hard to find this in the jewelry world. I personally loved the designs which are clean and modern. See photo below. The designer has a beautiful e-commerce site where you can check out her designs.
Marie Margot – designer Maggie based in Denver, CO– creates custom bridal gowns. I was so impressed with her designs. I loved how light and ethereal the gowns were without that traditional, heavy look of some wedding gowns. See photo below.
Note: Please know that I am not working with any of these designers and was not asked to endorse or mention any of the designers in this post. All opinions here are my own.
